A wide range of activities are suggested in the Handbook, in the form
of structured Session Plans, to help you get started using them at all
stages of your work with people, from beginning (eg: establishing
ground rules) through group and individual reflection to the end
(looking ahead to the future).
Tooncards activities can contribute and link
directly to the curriculum for PSHE and Citizenship, as well as to SEAL
outcomes. The Handbook contains more detailed indicators for
links between the suggested Session Plans for activities and various
areas of the curriculum, eg:
- Feedback
and reflective activities promote
self-awareness and
recognizing how others see them
;
- Sorting Tooncards into linked sequences helps discussion and
understanding of the consequences of
behaviour;
- Using Tooncards for showing, as well as telling, your own
story and feelings contributes to developing
empathy;
- Tooncards give people a way of indicating
emotion and
referring to difficult behaviours in a constructive way and without
having to struggle to find the right words - this can help them to
manage and express their feelings and points of view appropriately.
